Hey everyone! Did y'all happen to catch Thursday's episode of "Community"? If you did, pretty awesome, right?! If you did not, you need to watch it and get back with me. The whole episode was centered around a game of D&D, which in itself is awesome. I love that Troy's reaction the first time playing was the same as mine, "Um, shouldn't there be like, a game board, or pieces, or something to Jenga?". Lol. Outstanding.
Anyhoo, I won't keep you, because it's Saturday and all of that, BUT if you are just sitting around this evening thinking "Gee, I live in the Capital District, and there is NOTHING cool to do tonight", THINK AGAIN! The Hellions of Troy are getting it on like Donkey Kong tonight, taking on the Oz Rollergirls. Go there. Cheer on Reading Rambo. Bat your eyes at Ida. Stare at girls in short shorts. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Things You Should be... Friday!
Things You Should be Listening to...
DJ McFly- Okay, so this came to me in a weird way.... DJ McFly and I share a mutual friend, the mutual friend told me about him, I checked out some of his music, and it's AWESOME. All my derby girls are back in full swing work-out mode, so the past few music suggestions have been mash-ups, because it helps get the blood flowing. This week is no different. If you happen to like Girl Talk or DJ Fergie Ferg from last week, you MUST give DJ McFly a listen. His website is http://dublejmedia.com/, and you can find out more about him, as well as download some of his funky-fresh tracks! Sidenote: if you need a kick-ass wedding DJ, who is capable of doing mash-ups, you might want to give him a shout.
Things You Should be Watching...
Catfish- This is a great documentary I just watched. It starts out with a photographer in NYC whose brother is making a documentary about him and his friendship with a 9 year old artist. He gets involved with the whole family, and starts a relationship with the girl's older sister (who is a decade older, so it's not pervy or anything) then there is a a pretty big twist. It's a film shows that no matter how much you think you might know someone, there is a big chance that you may have no clue who that person REALLY is, especially when you've made those connections over the internet. I am a documentary nerd.
Things You Should be Reading...
Y the Last Man- I just got Miss Reading Rambo in this one. It's an amazing story of the last man on earth. Yorick Brown was just another 20 something guy trying to find his way in the world, until he woke up one day and found that he, and his pet monkey, Ampersand, were the last two males on earth. It's a really interesting way of looking at a post-male society. It's not all "peace and love" like us ladies like to preach about "if we were in charge". It shows the dark side of feminism, and the obstacles that have to be overcome to live in a world without men, and how to keep Yoricks identity hidden from anyone who would want to harm him. Originally a 60 issue comic book series, this comic has been collected and consolidated into 10 graphic novels. It's a definite "must" for non-capes loving comic readers.

Hot Nerd of the Week: Shirley Manson!
Shirley Manson. That is a name I first became aware of almost 16 years ago. I've been a fan ever since. The Chief has asked me to write up an article and I am more than happy to oblige.
The (IMHO) beautiful Scottish Shirley Manson was originally in a band called Goodbye, Mr. Mackenzie. After working with that band on keyboard and back up vocals she moved on to lead vocals with Angelfish. Angelfish would receive some moderate college airplay and it was through this that she would be noticed by Steve Marker. He was putting a band together and thought Shirley would be a great lead singer. That band was Garbage.
Garbage would go on to receive multiple award nominations for its four studio albums (Garbage, Version 2.0, Beautiful Garbage and Bleed Like Me). They would also contribute original songs to the Romeo and Juliet and The World is Not Enough soundtracks. They also have a best of album (Absolute Garbage). Recently, Miss Manson has been recording solo tracks for an album. Oh, and she was a terminator.
After being asked to by the series creator of Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Shirley audition and got the role of business executive Catherine Weaver who is revealed to be....a T-1000. Oh, and she was an unlockable character in Guitar Hero 5. Nerd cred? I think so.
Not many people have a resume like Shirley Manson. Keyboardist, singer, ginger, songwriter, video game character and terminator. Can you see why I have been a tried and true fan?

Clark, The Canadian Hockey Goalie!
In light of the NHL All-Star game this afternoon, I give you Clark, the Canadian hockey goalie. Clark is one of the best dual sportsmen to ever live. Hope you're having a great day, and if you happen to watch (or have watched) the All-Star game, let me know what you think of the short for the Guardian Project!
